in ACTIVITIES & CRAFTS

Long Island’s local farms really come alive in the fall with plenty of harvest season fun, and the change in seasons means it’s time to trek through a local corn maze on Long Island. From charming, little-kid-sized hay mazes to spooky, haunted after-dark corn maze adventures suited to teens, we’ve rounded up the best corn mazes on Long Island for families.

Beyond conquering a local Long Island corn maze, these farms are packed with seasonal fun for families including pumpkin picking and hayrides. Find more farm fun and seasonal must-do’s in our guides to Pick-Your-Own Farms and Fall Fun on Long Island.

Sign up for our weekly newsletters to get more family fun delivered right to your inbox.

Before striking out to conquer a corn maze on Long Island, dress for the outing. Wear boots or comfortable shoes when visiting these area farms, as fields can be uneven and potentially wet. Inclement weather can mean scheduling changes, so click through to the listings or call ahead to be sure your chosen farm is open.

Where to Find a Corn Maze on Long Island

1. Elwood Pumpkin and Christmas Tree Farm – Elwood

Pick pumpkins right off the vine at Long Island’s westernmost pumpkin farm. For an additional fee, visitors can take a wagon ride or enjoy the small, kid-sized corn maze.

2. Glover Farms – Brookhaven

Beginning Saturday, September 24, spend a day at Glover Farms and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. The 10-acre corn maze is impressive, and after your time there, visit the picnic area to enjoy a packed lunch or indulge in roasted corn, fresh baked goods, and lemonade. The farm is open seven days a week.

3. Fairview Farm – Bridgehampton

Fairview Farm’s “maize” offers acres of winding paths through corn that rises 10 feet high. Two bridges within the maze offer visitors amazing views of the surrounding farmland, Mecox Bay, and the Atlantic Ocean. The maze is stroller- and wheelchair-accessible. The farm also raises and sells heritage pork, pastured chickens, and ducks. Be sure to check out its farm stand for homemade multigrain bread, jams, pies, and rosemary biscuits.

4. Harbes Family Farms – Multiple Locations

Whether you’ve got big kids or little ones, Harbes has a maze for you to conquer. At the Harbes Barnyard Adventure in Mattituck, little ones get a kick out of trying to find all the gnomes hidden in its hedge maze. When you’re done with that, stay for the pig races, jumbo jumpers, sports zones, and more. Find a more traditional corn maze here as we as at its Riverhead and Jamesport locations. On Saturday nights in October—plus Sunday, October 9—Harbes Orchard’s corn maze is transformed into a spooky scene. Bring your own flashlight and be prepared for frights at every turn.

5. Fall Festival at Hicks Nurseries – Westbury

Hicks Nurseries invites families to stock up on fall flowers and enjoy plenty of kid-friendly fun. Little ones can pose for photos with the star of the season, Otto the Ghost, who also leads guests on a walk-through adventure titled “Otto’s House Party.” After spending time with the friendly ghost, enjoy unlimited runs through the hay maze, arts and crafts, and visit the Country Kitchen or Hicks Food Truck for seasonal treats.

6. Lewin Farms – Wading River

The corn maze at Lewin Farms is redesigned annually. Open on weekends and holidays in the fall, this five-acre maze is challenging and fun for most age groups. Markers along the way tell you if you’re going in the right direction. The completion time is about 25 minutes. An adult must accompany children. Pick-your-own apples, pumpkins, tomatoes, and peppers while you are there.

7. F & W Schmitt’s Family Farm – Melville

The corn maze at Schmitt’s is open on weekends only during its annual Fall Festival. Race your friends and family through the corn maze, or take your time enjoying the adventure. Little ones can have fun on the playground, enjoy pony rides, and visit the petting zoo. The whole family can experience pumpkin and veggie-picking together, and parents enjoy shopping at the farm stand. Hayrides at Schmitt’s delight the young and old and are included with the admission fee, though take note: Many activities, including the corn maze, require an additional fee.

Included in the admission price are weekend attractions such as visiting the barnyard, the human hamster wheel, barn-o-corn, jump pillow, character appearances, pedal carts, a combine slide, and an animatronic chicken show. 10. Stakey’s Corn Maze — Aquebogue

Challenge yourself with Stakey’s trivia-guided corn maze. Answer the questions correctly, and you are guided in the right direction. Answer incorrectly, and you find yourself walking in circles. But don’t worry, getting lost is part of the fun. Relax after trekking through the corn maze with a hayride around the pumpkin patch. Kids also enjoy pumpkin picking and face and arm painting. Visitors pay per attraction.

11. Hank’s Pumpkintown – Water Mill

Included in this “amusement park” of a farm stand are hayrides, tractor and corn trains, a huge inflatable jump pad, duck races, a combine slide, a pedal cart race track, a super long tube slide, and of course, three interactive corn mazes. If you still have the energy after visiting all those attractions, go gem mining, pick-your-own pumpkins, or adults can grab a cup of hard cider, all available for additional fees. Stop by the market afterward for roasted corn, candied apples, homemade pies, and more.

12. Borellas Farm Stand – St. James

The Fall Harvest Festival at Borellas Farm Stand includes tons of family-friendly entertainment. Families can enjoy a corn maze, hayrides, cow train, and a brand new pumpkin bounce pillow, plus traditional seasonal fun like pumpkin picking and plenty of eats from caramel corn to candied apples.
